The first is \u003cstrong\u003estripped head bolt threads\u003c\/strong\u003e in the aluminium block — a known issue on 2007–2009 units that Toyota addressed with a service campaign and coarser bolts. The second is \u003cstrong\u003eoil consumption\u003c\/strong\u003e from piston ring design on 2AZ-FE engines in the 2007–2011 range.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJDM units come out of vehicles that were retired from Japanese roads at low mileage — typically well under 60,000 miles — because of Japan's shaken inspection cycle, not because the engine failed.
