Shop genuine JDM Toyota 1JZ engines for sale, imported directly from Japan by JDM Alliance. The 1JZ is the 2.5-litre inline-six that shares its architecture with the 2JZ but spins faster and costs less — the smart choice for a drift chassis or any build where the 3.0's price premium is not buying you anything. Every engine here is auction-graded in Japan, compression tested on arrival, and photographed as the actual unit that ships to you.
The 1JZ-GTE non-VVTi (1990–1996, JZA70 Supra and JZX90 Chaser) runs sequential twin turbos, 8.5:1 compression and a factory 276 hp. The 1JZ-GTE VVTi (1996–2007, JZX100 onward) swaps to a single CT15B turbo with variable intake cam timing — same rated power, dramatically better torque below 4,000 rpm, and the version most people should buy for a street car. The 1JZ-GE is the naturally aspirated 10.5:1 version.
Against the 2JZ: the 1JZ shares the block family, head design and much of the parts catalogue, but with a 71.5 mm stroke instead of 86 mm. It revs more freely, weighs slightly less, and typically lands well under 2JZ-GTE money for the same swap complexity. Below roughly 500 hp there is little practical reason to pay 2JZ prices. Above that, the 2JZ's stroke and bottom end win.
