B18C spec R vs B18C GSR vs B18C5

All B18Cs are not the same engine. The JDM B18C spec R from the DC2 Type R is the one people import — 11.1:1 compression, hand-ported head, higher-lift cams, lightweight flywheel and roughly 197 hp. The B18C GSR-spec (JDM SiR / US B18C1) runs 10.6:1 and around 170 hp with a standard head. The US-market B18C5 Integra Type R is very close to the JDM spec R but with market-specific emissions hardware.

The non-VTEC B18A and B18B from the LS and RS Integras share the block but not the head — they make excellent boosted short blocks ("LS/VTEC") but are not a drop-in equal to a B18C.

Check the head casting and the ECU code on any B18C you are quoted. A genuine spec R head is stamped and the difference in price is real.

What you receive

Engines are sold as a long block with the accessories shown in the listing photos. Transmission, ECU and harness are included only where the listing says so. Every unit is compression tested and its serial number is recorded against the listing — we send you photos and the serial before it ships, and you approve before it leaves the warehouse.

Replacement engines carry a start-up warranty of up to 90 days; performance variants carry 30 days. Take local pickup at our Dallas, TX warehouse at 10203 Corkwood Rd, or crated freight anywhere in the lower 48.
