H22A vs H22A1 vs H22A Type S vs F20B
The JDM H22A from the BB1 Prelude Si-VTEC runs 10.6:1 and roughly 197 hp. The H22A Type S from the BB6 Prelude is the one worth chasing — 11.0:1 compression, revised head and intake, and around 217 hp, with the factory LSD transmission often available alongside it. The US H22A1 / H22A4 from the Prelude VTEC and Acura CL are close but detuned, around 190–200 hp.
Worth knowing: the F20B from the JDM Accord SiR is a 2.0-litre relative with the same block family and an excellent head — if you want revs over torque, it is a legitimate alternative and often cheaper.
Whatever variant you buy, budget for a timing belt, water pump and balance shaft service on arrival. The H22 balance shaft belt is the part people skip and regret.

Every unit is compression tested and its serial number is recorded against the listing — we send you photos and the serial before it ships, and you approve before it leaves the warehouse.
