The 2ZR-FXE is the 1.8L Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder from Toyota's hybrid lineup — and with third-generation Priuses now deep into six-figure mileage, a low-mileage JDM replacement is often the difference between keeping the car and scrapping it. JDM Alliance imports 2ZR-FXE engines directly from Japan and stocks them at our Dallas warehouse for local pickup or crated freight nationwide.

The JDM 2ZR-FXE is the direct counterpart of the engine used in the 2010–2015 Prius (third generation), the Prius v, the 2011–2017 Lexus CT200h, and later Toyota hybrids including the Corolla Hybrid. Japan's hybrid fleet is enormous, so supply is steady and mileage is low — our units typically run 45,000–70,000 miles, documented from the auction sheet. Common failure points on high-mileage US units — head gasket and EGR-related issues — are exactly what a fresh low-mile engine solves. Tell us your exact year and model so we match the correct spec.
Each engine is sold as a long-block assembly: block, head, valvetrain, oil pan and timing components. The hybrid transaxle, motor-generators, inverter and battery are not part of the engine — you reuse yours. Depending on your application you may need to transfer or source separately: intake manifold, exhaust manifold, wiring harness, ECU, sensors and accessories plus mounting hardware. The engine in the photos is the actual unit you receive, and we confirm the serial with you before it ships.
Every 2ZR-FXE is compression-tested, its auction grade is documented, and it is photographed as the actual unit. Replacement 2ZR-FXE engines carry our 90-day start-up warranty from the day the engine arrives. Note that electrical components carry no warranty — the covered item is the engine itself.
2ZR-FXE pricing varies with mileage and container timing — check the current listings below for live pricing, with free local pickup in Dallas and flat-zone crated freight to the lower 48. If nothing is in stock today, call or text (469) 570-4113 and we'll reserve one off the next arrival.
Hybrid work means high-voltage systems — this is not a driveway job. Have a certified mechanic familiar with Toyota hybrids handle the install; it's also a warranty condition. Before first start-up: replace the valve cover, oil pan and rear main seals while the engine is out, clean or inspect the EGR circuit and intake manifold, and fill with fresh oil and coolant. Change the oil again after the first 500 miles.
Yes — the long block mates to your existing hybrid transaxle and runs on your US ECU and harness. You reuse your manifolds, accessories and all hybrid-drive components.
Typically 45,000–70,000 miles. Japanese vehicle inspection costs push cars out of service early, which is why JDM engines average far lower mileage than US junkyard pulls.
90 days on used replacement engines, starting the day the engine arrives. Electrical parts are not covered. Claims go to warranty@jdmallianceusa.com with your invoice, installer certification and compression readings.
