The lineup breaks down like this: the B16A is the 1.6L DOHC VTEC from the JDM Civic SiR and del Sol lines — the classic VTEC swap for 1988–2000 Civics. The B18B is the 1.8L non-VTEC counterpart of the USDM engine in the 1994–2001 Integra RS/LS/GS and makes a direct low-mileage replacement. The B18C is the 1.8L DOHC VTEC from the JDM Integra SiR and Type R — the counterpart of the USDM B18C1 (GS-R) and B18C5 (Type R). The B20B is the 2.0L non-VTEC from the JDM CR-V and Orthia, a direct replacement for the 1997–2001 US CR-V and the favorite bottom end for budget B20/VTEC builds. Our engines typically run 45,000–70,000 miles, documented from the auction sheet.
Each engine is sold as a long-block assembly: block, head, valvetrain, oil pan and timing components. Depending on your application you may need to transfer or source separately: intake manifold, exhaust manifold, wiring harness, ECU, sensors, and accessories plus mounting hardware. Swaps into non-B-series chassis also need mounts, axles and shift linkage for your combination. The engine in the photos is the actual unit you receive, and we confirm the serial with you before it ships.
Every B-series engine is compression-tested, its auction grade is documented, and it is photographed as the actual unit. Non-VTEC replacement engines (B18B, B20B) carry our 90-day start-up warranty; VTEC upgrade units (B16A, B18C) carry a 30-day warranty plus a 30-day return window. Both start the day the engine arrives.
B-series pricing varies widely with variant, mileage and container timing — a B18C Type R and a B18B are very different money. Before first start-up: replace the valve cover, oil pan and rear main seals while the engine is out, do a fresh timing belt and water pump (every B-series is belt-driven), and adjust the valves — B-series valvetrains are solid-lash and it's a five-minute check on the stand. VTEC swaps into non-VTEC chassis need the VTEC solenoid and pressure switch wired to a VTEC-capable ECU. Have a certified mechanic handle the install — it's also a warranty condition — and change the oil again after the first 500 miles.
Direct replacements (B18B into an Integra LS, B20B into a CR-V) bolt to your USDM transmission and run on your existing ECU and harness. VTEC swaps into a non-VTEC car need a matching VTEC ECU, wiring for the solenoid, and often a hydraulic transmission and mount kit for the chassis.
