The R18A is the 1.8L SOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder that powered the 2006–2011 Honda Civic (8th generation) — and a low-mileage JDM replacement is the most cost-effective way to put one of America's most-driven commuter cars back on the road. JDM Alliance imports R18A engines directly from Japan and stocks them at our Dallas warehouse for local pickup or crated freight nationwide.

The JDM R18A is the direct counterpart of the USDM R18A1 and R18A4 used in the 2006–2011 Civic DX, LX and EX (sedan and coupe). Japanese-market engines are typically pulled from Civics with far lower average mileage — our units run in the 45,000–70,000 mile range, documented from the auction sheet. It does not fit the Civic Si (that's the K20Z3 — see our K-series stock) or the 2012+ ninth-gen Civic (R18Z).
Each engine is sold as a long-block assembly: block, head, valvetrain, oil pan and timing components. Depending on your application you may need to transfer or source separately: intake manifold, exhaust manifold, wiring harness, ECU, sensors, and accessories (alternator, power steering, A/C) plus mounting hardware. The engine in the photos is the actual unit you receive, and we confirm the serial with you before it ships.
Every R18A is compression-tested, its auction grade is documented, and it is photographed as the actual unit. Replacement R18A engines carry our 90-day start-up warranty from the day the engine arrives.
R18A pricing varies with mileage and container timing — check the current listings below for live pricing, with free local pickup in Dallas and flat-zone crated freight to the lower 48. Inventory turns over with every container — if nothing is in stock today, call or text (469) 570-4113 and we'll reserve one off the next arrival.
Before first start-up: replace the valve cover, oil pan and rear main seals while the engine is out (cheap insurance on any import), inspect or replace the timing chain tensioner and water pump, fill with fresh oil and coolant, and have a certified mechanic handle the install — it's also a warranty condition. Change the oil again after the first 500 miles.
Yes — the long block bolts to the USDM automatic and manual transmissions and runs on your existing ECU and harness. You reuse your US intake/exhaust manifolds and accessories.
Typically 45,000–70,000 miles. Japanese vehicle inspection costs push cars out of service early, which is why JDM engines average far lower mileage than US junkyard pulls.
90 days on used replacement engines, starting the day the engine arrives. Claims go to warranty@jdmallianceusa.com with your invoice, installer certification and compression readings.
